Here is the first national poll by Fox News on the presidential nomination contests, conducted one year before the 2024 primaries. Be warned: Former President Donald Trump appears to be formidable, while Vice President Joe Biden is under scrutiny.
A list of 15 announced and possible candidates for the GOP nomination in 2024 was read to Republican primary voters. With 43% of the vote, Donald Trump is the most popular candidate, followed by Ron DeSantis (28%), Nikki Haley (7%), Mike Pence (7%), Greg Abbott (2%), and Liz Cheney (2%).

Men, women, voters under and over 45, those without a college degree, and those who were Republican primary voters all ranked Trump higher than DeSantis. The Florida governor is ahead among voters who believe Biden was properly elected and those with college degrees, and the two candidates are close among suburban voters and those with higher incomes.
TRUMP AND POTENTIAL 2024 OPPOSITORS TAKE SWIPS AT FLORIDA GOVERNOR AS DESANTIS RACKS UP WINNINGS
Republican Daron Shaw, who conducts the Fox News poll with Democrat Chris Anderson, claims that the mechanics of the GOP race are currently “simple.” “Since the majority of the former president’s supporters consider the Florida governor to be a distant second, DeSantis needs Trump to collapse. DeSantis’ supporters have no single backup plan and would be up for grabs should he falter, thus other contenders need him to struggle.”
According to a Fox News survey, Donald Trump is the second-choice Republican candidate for 2024.

In comparison to what Trump garnered four years ago, this support for Biden is paltry. At the same stage of the election cycle in February 2019, nearly twice as many Republican registered voters (72% of them) supported Trump over Biden.
In the meantime, 84% of Democratic primary voters think Biden is doing a good job as president.
Even though they might desire for an option in 2024, they like him and the work he’s doing, according to Anderson.
A roughly equal proportion of people indicate they intend to take part in their state’s Democratic (40%) and GOP (41%) primaries or caucuses. March 2014 had 41% Democrats and 38% Republicans in power.

This Fox News Survey was conducted February 19–22, 2023, and was overseen by Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R). It included 1,006 registered voters from throughout the country who were chosen at random from a voter file and spoke with live interviewers on both landlines and cellphones. The poll’s margin of sampling error for all registered voters is 3 percentage points, and for Democratic and Republican primary voters, it is 4.5 percentage points.
