Anthony Gordon: Everton forward is a target for Chelsea and Newcastle.

Anthony Gordon of Everton is a target for Chelsea and Newcastle before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

The 21-year-old was sought after by both clubs in the summer, but neither could agree on a transfer deal with the Toffees.

Even though it is unlikely any offer would come close to the £60 million Everton would prefer, there is a perception that Everton may be more receptive to a sale this month in order to raise money for Frank Lampard’s replacement as manager.

Since it is unclear how long it will take Everton to choose a new manager, the situation is tricky.

Nevertheless, it is anticipated that both teams will speed up their efforts to recruit Gordon, who was an inactive substitute in Lampard’s final game in charge, a 2-0 loss at West Ham on Saturday.

While it is believed Newcastle are the favorites to sign the England Under-21 international, it has been reported that Chelsea would be willing to loan Gordon back to Everton for the duration of the season.

Arnaut Danjuma of the Netherlands, who rejected a contract with Everton, is on the verge of joining Tottenham.

Over the weekend, it looked that Danjuma and the Merseyside club had reached an agreement.

However, Tottenham intervened before the 25-year-old could sign his deal.

Now that he has agreed to a medical with Spurs, Danjuma will join on loan from Villarreal.

Before the transfer window shuts, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has been pushing for additions to his team to help them in their quest to finish in the top four.
